If you use the right sauce, this recipe is vegetarian and vegan. I also included a couple quick suggestions for easy sides to keep your meal stress-free. Hope this video is helpful for you!

This dish is the Indonesia home cook food. The fusion of sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) in the stir fry long beans with tempeh (Indonesia soy beans cake) make this dish more tasty. This dish can be a menu for vegetarians.
This Sesame ginger tempeh is more of a sesame ginger and garlic tempeh it's just too long of a title. Cooking and eating marinated tempeh is one of my fav things to eat. Plus its a vegan food bowl.

2. Steam tempeh for 15 minutes. This step is optional; I think it improves the texture and flavor and prevents it from drying out in later steps.
3. Combine flour and spices. Add in liquid gradually until a medium-consistency batter is achieved; it should be thick enough to stick to the tempeh and not drip off. You may need more or less liquid depending on the kind of flour you use.
4. Dip tempeh into the batter and then coat generously with breadcrumbs.
5. Arrange tempeh in one layer in your air fryer basket or on a lined baking tray. Air-fry for 15 minutes at 400°F or bake for 30 minutes in a preheated 400°F oven. (If subbing in tofu, you may need to add an additional 5-10 minutes as tofu has more moisture.)
6. Combine buffalo sauce and optional vegan butter. Dip breaded tempeh into this mixture and return to air fryer for 5 additional minutes, or to oven for 10 additional minutes of cooking.

I've been humbly making these for years without thinking that anyone else would like it. I was proven very wrong when I brought them to a vegan potluck and they were one of the fastest things to disappear! In appreciation of everyone's feedback, here's the recipe for my alternative to fish fingers. A great addition to salads, and a tasty snack for kids and adults alike!
Tempeh is a fermented soy meat analogue that can be used in a variety of dishes. This is a delicious no-chicken salad that can be used in a sandwich or fancy salad. Made with 'vegan' mayonnaise and garnished with garlic (whole clove) stuffed olives.

Why tempeh? Well, one of the questions I hear about eating a plant-based diet is “how can I feel full and satisfied without meat, chicken and fish”. So many suggestions come to mind such as: mushroom burgers, bean chillis, tofu stir fries and seitan stews. Tempeh dishes also top the list. It is a wonderful ingredient with a hearty texture and nutty umami rich flavor. It is traditional to Indonesia and made from fermented soybeans. It is a very healthy alternative to animal-based proteins. From a nutritional perspective it is rich in fiber, probiotics and protein.
You don’t need to eat a plant-based diet to enjoy tempeh. Below you will find a recipe for tempeh that is a real crowd pleaser amongst vegans, vegetarians, omnivores, teens and adults alike. It is easy to make and heart healthy with no added oils. It is wonderful as a center-of-the plate protein with a baked potato and salad. It also makes a killer wrap with sweet potato, kale and hummus.
Tempeh Sweet Potato Wraps
Ingredients
8 oz package tempeh
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 minced garlic cloves
1 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt, optional
Instructions
Slice the tempeh lengthwise into 16 strips, approximately ¾ inch wide.
Steam or simmer the sliced tempeh for 10-15 minutes and then drain. (optional to remove bitterness from tempeh)
Combine the rest of the ingredients in a 9 x 12 inch baking dish.
Add the tempeh and then flip it over a few times to cover in the marinade.
Place the baking dish towards the top of the oven and broil for 3-4 minutes until nice browned. Flip the tempeh and broil for another 3-4 minutes. Watch to ensure it becomes browned but not burnt.
To prepare the wrap, spread a few slices of tempeh, some hummus, baked sweet potato and kale onto a whole wheat wrap. Roll it up and slice into two halves.

Tempeh Mendoan is a traditional culinary from indonesia. A variation of tempeh cooking method, this type is often found in Purwokerto. The origin of the word mendoan is from Banyumas regional dialect, which means "to cook instantly in very hot oil", that results in product cooked on the outside, but raw or partially cooked on the inside, and soft texture. The tempeh is dipped into spiced flour dressing before frying it in hot oil for a short time. Tempe mendoan may seem like half-cooked, soft-fried tempeh, unlike common crisp, fully deep-fried tempeh.
For 1 box only Rp 5.000 or $ 0.4. It's very cheap street food.
