How to Make Sweet and Sour Tempeh:
(stir-fry noodles with tempeh and vegetables)
Ingredients:
-a wok
-1 package tempeh
-chopped vegetables(onions, peppers, carrots, doesn't really matter)
-2 cups cooked rice or noodles
-sesame oil for frying tempeh
sweet and sour sauce:
-1/4 cup soy sauce
-1/4 cup vinegar
-1 can pineapple chunks(with juice)
-2 tbsp brown sugar
-1 tbsp cornstarch(for thickening the sauce)
1. Chop tempeh into cubes. Chop vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
2. Fry the tempeh and sesame oil in a wok until browned.
3. Put tempeh aside.
4. To make sweet and sour sauce in wok, mix soy sauce, vinegar, pineapple juice, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Cook until thick.
5. Add chopped vegetables to wok and cook in sweet and sour sauce.
6. Add tempeh to wok and cook briefly with vegetables.
7. Finally, add cooked rice or noodles to wok and mix well. All done!
If you want to be healthier, leave out the oil and just cook the tempeh in the sweet and sour sauce.
If you don't have pineapple juice, use orange, lemon or lime. Taste is similar.
Tempeh is like tofu except better!
